Star Citizen Events
In the summer of 2019, the Star Citizen community was abuzz with the discovery of a drug lab on the surface of Crusader's moon Yela. Word spread quickly of the potential riches to be gained, and soon outlaws and less-than-scrupulous organizations rushed to the outpost in search of the illicit treasure trove.
Meanwhile, more lawful groups chose to lock down the station in a bid to prevent further criminal activity. This led to a perpetual tug-of-war between far-flung factions and home-grown heroes over control of the outpost.
To capitalize on this newfound interest and excitement, the Star Citizen developers decided to create an official live action game play event called Jump Town. The event was designed so that players could take part in a massive conflict for control of the outpost. As part of the event, the developers created a special game patch, dubbed Hotfix, to help manage and track the progress of the game play.
Hotfix improved the overall game play experience by providing players with more detailed stats, allowing them to better strategize and compete for control of Jumptown. The patch also increased the number of players who could take part in the event, allowing for even greater numbers of participants.
With the help of Hotfix, Jump Town became one of the most successful live action game play events in Star Citizen's history. Thousands of players took part in the event, and the battle for control of the outpost raged on for days. In the end, the lawful groups were able to gain the upper hand and secure the outpost.
The success of Jump Town has since become part of Star Citizen's official lore. It is a prime example of how player actions can shape the future of the 'verse forever.
